Yes. 4D plates are legal when made to British Standard by a DVLA registered supplier. Using the Charles Wright font, correct character spacing and the required supplier name, postcode and British Standard mark. Every road legal plate we manufacture meets those requirements and will pass an MOT.
3D gel plates use domed gel resin characters with a rounded finish and a smaller depth. 4D plates use laser cut acrylic characters in 3mm or 5mm for a bolder, flat topped and deeper look. 4D gel combines acrylic characters with a gel topping.
Orders placed before 11am Monday to Friday are dispatched the same working day. Most UK customers receive their plates within two working days, with free delivery included on orders over £35.
UK law requires proof of identity and proof of entitlement to the registration. After ordering, upload your V5C logbook, new keeper slip or lease agreement together with a driving licence or passport.

Number Plate Legality And British Standard
As a DVLA-registered manufacturer and supplier of number plates, Aplates must ensure all of our road legal plates comply with the British Standard. Thus, please note that by law we must include our company name, postcode and the current BSAU number, BS AU 145e, on our road legal plates.
The font style we use for all our number plates is Charles Wright, which is the standardised legal font in the UK.
The Government/DVLA have confirmed that three-dimensional characters are legal and compliant with motoring laws. This includes 4D number plates; ‘4D’ is just an industry standard name – these plates are still 3D/three-dimensional.
